Sometimes impromptu portraits are the most revealing. Shooting this way has the ability to capture much more private and unguarded moments. One afternoon a few years ago I was out at lunch with all of my family. We were in California seated in a large booth right by a window and I noticed this beautiful light pouring in. We were all telling stories and just having a good time. I knew I could get some great shots so I pulled out my camera.
When it was all said and done we used a couple of the shots for several publications. If I wasn’t ready or aware I would have missed a great moment. I still use this technique to this day to pull off some wonderful photos of people.
